Author Lowdown with Eve Langlais

There's me giving out books and swag. I went home empty handed :)

Who is your favourite author?
I love Thea Harrison, Darynda Jones (I fan girled her at RomCon 2013 lol) and Illona Andrews.

Are there any new authors that have grabbed your interest?
I haven’t had much time to really read outside my must haves, but Shannon Mayer caught my attention with the first few books in a series.

Which character was the hardest to write and why?
I find heroines in general difficult to write. I try not to make them just like me, which means they have their own habits and tendencies that are sometimes annoying, even to the person writing about them. Like they’ll whine too much. Protest about everything. Act like a right bitch. Or wimp out. These same flaws that aggravate me will irritate some readers too, BUT, at the same time, adding these flaws to the heroine also helps make her resonate with some readers. Not everyone wants a kick ass heroine. Not everyone wants one who is comfortable with her weight, or who jumps into a relationship enthusiastically.  Making characters real, blemishes and all, is a hard task for any writer, but the end result, is well worth the effort.

Why did you choose to write romance?
I love a happily ever after. I am a sap for it. I want to see and feel that instant connection between two people and sigh with content when they realize that they’re meant for each other.

What kind of romance is your favourite style to write
I LOVE anything paranormal or science fiction. I want to escape the real world, and the creation of new ones with over the top heroes is super fun to me.

If you weren’t an author, what would you have ended up doing?
Before this I was a customer service rep and website programmer. It was boring and repetitive. I’m also a mom which is rewarding but challenging as each child is different with opposing needs. With writing, I’ve found a way to escape the mundaneness of real life and immerse myself in new worlds.

Do you have any rituals/habits when you write?
I like quiet. Once I get in the zone, I dislike anything from the outside world to intrude.

What would be the weirdest one?
Chips…lol. I enjoy snacking while writing which is really a bad habit, just ask my wide bottom!

Your house is burning and you have to grab five things - what would you grab?
Assuming all living beings have already left the house, then my box of pics, computer and filing cabinet. And my little one’s stuffy! Everything else can be replaced.

What would you let burn then tell no one about? (eg. Tiny Tim LP, 80’s style clothing etc)
lol, I got rid of my hoarding stuff a few years back. But, I wouldn’t mind getting rid of some of hubby’s less reputable t-shirts. lol.

What is on your current and upcoming release schedule?
Coming up in January, one of my publishers, Amira Press, is releasing a 6 author box set titled Shifter Seductions. It will be offered at 99cents for a limited time and features some bestselling books. At the end of January the awaited next story in the Freakn’ Shifters series is coming, Freakn’ Cougar. And in February, get ready to go metal as Seth releases and reveals more of the cyborg beginnings.

Where are your books available?
The best place to go is my website – all of my books have links to the stores carrying them to make it easy for readers to find. You can also sign up for my mailing list so you get notices about new releases or specials :)

    1. LOL Becki! I love all her books, it's so hard to pick a favourite series. I'm rather partial to the Welcome to Hell books as the first one was the very first of Eve's books I read. It holds a special place. I love the cyborgs too though, they're such smart alecs! Love me those purple aliens though ... yum!
