AUTHOR LOWDOWN with R.S. Grey

You can take 5 items/men to a fully catered desert island – what/who would you take?
This reminds me of With This Heart because Abby and Beck play this game ;) I would choooooooose:

1. John Krasinski
2. Jimmy Fallon (for the laughs!)
3. Bear Grylls (so we’d actually survive, haha)
4. Chocolate (because I’d go through withdrawals)
5. BOOK(s) (something funny, maybe BJ Novak’s new book since I haven’t read it yet...)

Who is your favourite author?
I admire funny people. When I can relax with a book and have a giant smile across my face, it’s a good day. That being said, Mindy Kaling is definitely my favourite writer. She’s brilliant!

How did you start your writing career?
It actually started as a dare from a friend. I was obviously hooked right away!

Which character was the hardest to write and why?
Beck was definitely the most challenging character to write in this book because I wanted him to be charming, mysterious, and funny. It’s very difficult writing from a quirky male POV, but I love the end result!

Why did you choose to write romance?
I absolutely love romance everything (books, movies, photos). It’s what I choose to read 90% of the time and it’s what I naturally gravitate toward as a writer. I’ve dappled in New Adult Dystopian/fantasy, but is still has a very strong romance element in the story.

If you weren’t an author, what would you have ended up doing?
Well, I work part time as a graphic designer, so I would probably end up doing that full time! I also was planning on going to the medical field upon graduating from college and have worked in a doctor’s office for many years.

Do you have any rituals/habits when you write?
Absolutely. Coffee and music...maybe my black lab puppy at my feet for inspiration, haha! I write the best sitting at my desk at home with no one else around.

What would be the weirdest one?
Not sure if it’s weird, but I sit Indian style in my chair while I write... J

If you write under an alias/Nome de plume, how does it feel to have emails etc. addressed to your other name?
I do write under a pen name, but the “R” in R.S. Grey still coincides with my real first name, Rachel...so it isn’t too awkward! It was a bit funny introducing myself at my first signing, but I got used to it quickly!

What is on your current and upcoming release schedule?
I’m releasing With This Heart on March 27th and have one book out, Behind His Lens. I’m currently writing another New Adult Romance that will be out this summer!

Where are your books available?
Amazon! That’s definitely the easiest place to purchase them. I also have signed paperbacks available on my website J
