KINKY LOWDOWN - ENCORE - with Jason Luke

Aaaaaand, for an encore interview... Jason Luke and the conclusion of Kinky Bitches. If you liked the theme month and want it again, please let me know! ~The Queen B~

What’s the weirdest thing a fan (or stalker!) has ever asked you?
I once had a request sent to me from an earnest reader who begged me ‘to take her submissive virginity’.

Do you have a favourite author(s)? Who is it/are they?
I don’t have one author who I favour. I am a fan of William Peter Blatty who wrote ‘The Exorcist’ because my real passionate desire is ultimately to write horror novels. I also happen to admire a lot of the adventure writers who emerged back in the 1970’s from England.

How did you start your writing career?
I have only been writing for a short time, although it is something that has always been an interest to me on a private level. Ultimately I decided to try writing stories at the suggestion of my girlfriend.

Which character was the hardest to write and why?
Jonah Noble was always going to be the hardest character because he really is the focus of both books. Coming up with Jonah’s thoughts on sex and women was no challenge, but keeping the character true in his mannerisms and reserved behaviour was something I had to be constantly mindful of.

If you write under an alias/Nome de plume, how do you deal with being addressed by that name?
I think it actually helps. I write erotica under the name Jason Luke and I write zombie novels under the name Nicholas Ryan. I think it would be far more confusing for me personally if I did it all under just one name. I think it would also be very confusing for readers.

What made you decide to pick an alias?
Authors all around the world write under pen names. Some of the most famous writers of all write under pen names. I do it because I believe the books should stand on their own. Writers should not be celebrities. We are storytellers and the story should be all that matters.

What extent do you go to, to research for what you write?
Naturally it is important that every story ooze credibility and authenticity. Whenever I sit down to write it is important to me that the words are accurate in their description. It is a particular challenge for me because I live in Australia and yet set all my stories in America. For that reason I do rely on some research and some vigilant beta readers.

If you weren’t an author, what would you have ended up doing?
Before I started writing I worked in business management as a kind of trouble-shooter for different companies.

Do you have any rituals/habits when you write?
I like to write in the morning, and by 2pm I have had enough. I aim to get 2000 words written each working day. Sometimes days go well and I finish early and other days are much longer.

Where are your books available?
My books are available as ebooks only through Amazon. Many reads have asked me why they are not available form other platforms, but the truth is most other ebook outlets make it very difficult for an author who is not American.

KINKY LOWDOWN with Fiona Archer

Welcome to the very last Kinky Bitches post for 2014 :)
Last out of the Dungeon is Fiona Archer - Aussie author of the King's Bluff series. In this post you'll find the Kinky Lowdown, EXCLUSIVE excerpt just for me and a Rafflecopter giveaway.

Go and enjoy the last of the ropes, paddles and cuffs for this year, and I hope to see you again in the Dungeon soon xoxox ~The Queen B~

You can take 5 items/people to a fully catered desert island – what/who would you take?   J
My Kindle
My laptop for writing
My Malin Goetz lip balm
Cherise Sinclair -  so we laugh, plot stories, avoid sunburn and have our usual 1.25 glasses of alcohol (we’re cheap drunks)
A month’s supply of DARE Double Espresso Iced Coffee

You say the island is fully catered? So it should have cabana boys, fitness trainers? I’ll make do with them for male company. ;)

What’s the weirdest thing a fan (or stalker!) has ever asked you?
It was at RT 2011 in LA. Someone asked me if we had oranges, and also mobile phones in Australia. Seriously, the most bizarre question I’ve ever been asked about Australia.

Most inappropriate thing you’ve done in public? If it was illegal, did you get caught? J
Let’s just say an old boyfriend and frolicked on the beach. I’ll leave the rest up to your imagination. ;-)

How did you start your writing career?
Sometime after my fortieth birthday I realized I’d lived my life according to what everyone else thought was a worthwhile plan. But I needed to live my dream. I wanted to write sexy romance. I had nothing to lose. The alternative was a lifetime filled with regret if I didn’t at least give it a shot. So here I am.

If you write under an alias/Nome de plume, how do you deal with being addressed by that name?
I made sure my first name was the same as my real name. Total avoids any confusion.

Do you have any rituals/habits when you write?
I always try to write in the morning. It’s when my mind is less polluted from the day’s events and distractions. Depending on how early I get out of bed, I write before delving into social media. That’s a huge distraction. *sigh*

EXCLUSIVE EXCERPT
of King’s Bluff 3 (WIP of Alex, Olivia and Kane’s story) for Picky Bitches

“All of this equipment has been custom-designed to mine, Kane or Eli’s specifications.” Alex ran a hand over something that resembled a pommel horse, its top and tired sides cushioned in black leather. “This is one of my favorites.” His gray eyes seemed to darken to a more wintery hue. “A spanking bench made for a mouthy sub or one whose backside turns just the right shade of red from their Master’s touch.”
Tied down. Helpless. Subject to both pleasure and pain. Her clit throbbed in a sharp thrill of awareness. She risked a quick glance at Alex, he met her with unflinching stares. She sucked in a tiny breath, looked away.
“So, lounges, a bar, and,” she licked her lips, “the customized equipment. All good.”
“Isn’t it just.” Alex’s lips quirked a fraction.
“We’re pleased you like it, Olivia.” Kane’s amused gaze met hers as he gestured toward the stairs to the left. “We have private rooms upstairs but for now you need to see this.” He took her hand, leading her towards a door next to the raised platform at the end of the room. As they drew closer, a whapping sound grew louder.
He stopped just before the entrance. His voice again turned whisper soft. “Remember, quiet. Mikal told me Eli is testing out a new flogger.”
On what?
Once Kane stepped out of her way, she had her answer. On a short female with honey-blonde hair caught up in a ponytail.
The woman’s arms were extended above her head with her leather cuffs attached to chains that fell from a beam in the ceiling.
Pink streaks decorated her pale skin shown off to perfection by bright light shining down on her. Her head rolled as she leaned back, as if inviting the touch of the flogger.
A tall man wearing leather pants and biker boots, stood behind her, his muscled back and shoulders covered in a light sheen of sweat. With graceful arcs, his arm guided the falls to crisscross her back. His shaggy hair, rich and dark like Olivia's favorite chocolate, swung with the movement of his body. His powerful form spoke of dominance and hinted at the control used to leave only pink marks and nothing harder.
The sub’s moans lured Olivia closer. One step. Then another. Her cries so different from those of the other woman earlier. These were of pure pleasure, more a sigh than anything else. The sub lifted her chin, eyes closed, her mouth open, silently communicating her joy.
Breathtaking.
The man, Eli she presumed, lowered his flogger, then moved to stand beside the woman. She seemed so tiny against his bigger form. He gripped the back of her neck, speaking to her in muted tones before kissing her. Her body swayed under the intensity of his caress. When he lifted his head and smiled, the fierceness that had consumed his face disappeared. From the stool nearby, he picked up a soft-looking cloth, rubbing her body in long, languid strokes, all the while murmuring to her in a deep voice. So gentle. Almost…cherishing her.
Finally, he dropped the cloth back on the stool. This must be after care, she’d dreamed about a Dom picking her up and—
Crack!
The Dom’s sharp slap to the sub’s backside sent her reeling forward, only the chains kept her upright.
Olivia stared, open-mouthed at the pink spot on the woman’s butt cheek.
Eli gripped the sub’s ponytail, twisting it in his fist as he pushed his other hand between her legs, stroking her pussy. Her soft gasps became louder, more guttural, her breathing faster. Olivia stared, transfixed as the honey blonde spoke, no, pleaded, softly to the Dom. He replied a few seconds before her soft wail filled the room. Shudders wracked her body. Her face, now turned up to the light, seemed caught in a moment of ecstasy.
Olivia didn’t move, didn’t breathe. She wanted to be that woman. She wanted to be chained, naked, at the mercy of a Dom. Two Doms.
In this room, confronted with such honesty as before her, she couldn’t hide the truth from herself any longer. She wanted to experience the same wonder of what she’d just seen. And she wanted it to be at the hands and under the dominance of the MacKenzie brothers.

 God help her.

NEW RELEASE!! In Love with a Master - Jason Luke

Book Summary
How high a price will one man pay to know love?
For Jonah Noble, life has always been his world - his way. But now, confronted with his own mortality, and staring certain death in the face, he realises his one regret...
Will Leticia be his last chance? He knows she has feelings for him, but can he ever feel the same strength of emotion for her?
Can Jonah make the leap of faith that will put his heart in danger?
It's his world. His way. But now his life is on the line...

(BDSM erotica from a man's POV, written by a man. Contains some explicit language.)

About the Author
Jason Luke is an Australian author who began writing in September 2013 at the suggestion of his longtime girlfriend. 'Interview with a Master' is Jason's first erotic BDSM novel.
Jason Luke enjoyed several years involved in the BDSM lifestyle - but he is quick to point out that his experiences don't qualify him as an expert; any more than knowing how to drive a car makes him a qualified mechanic. 'Interview with a Master' is a novel about how one man became a Master. The book is a work of fiction, but Jason has drawn heavily on encounters from his own real life. He won't say which parts of the book are fictionalised, and which parts are auto-biographical.
Before taking up writing, Jason worked 6 days a week, 12 hours a day running a variety of retail businesses.
He has lived in Sydney all his life.
His favourite bands are U2 and INXS.

Book Quotes
“Anticipation is at its most effective, most seductive, when the next moment remains a mystery.” ~Jonah Noble

“Most men are more interested in their erection, and what they will get afterwards to be focused enough to stay in tune with their woman’s needs while pleasuring them,” I explained. “Because women are stimulated so differently, and because their arousal and release begins at a different place to a man’s, the man needs to be totally committed and patient. This is not a miracle solution for millions of frustrated women – it’s just common sense. But with the right attitude a man who knows this technique has within him the ability to sexual enslave a woman. It’s been my experience that once a woman has enjoyed this kind of an orgasm, they become desperate for more of the same.”
~ Jonah Noble

KINKY LOWDOWN with Michelle Fox

You can take 5 items/people to a fully catered desert island – what/who would you take?
Four men to play with and one woman to be my bestie and share in the spoils with me.

What’s the weirdest thing a fan (or stalker!) has ever asked you?
Oh that’s a tough one. Most people are pretty normal. The toughest thing is the people who join my newsletter, grab their free read and then unsubscribe! I can see them! Don’t they know that?

Most inappropriate thing you’ve done in public? If it was illegal, did you get caught? J
Taped up pictures of naked men in my dorm’s bathroom when I was in college. So you’d get in the shower and look up to see Mr. January there in all his glory. No one except my cohorts in crime knew who had done it. The girls started taking the pics back to their rooms, giggling the whole way. The RA (resident advisor) was so mad though and I could have been expelled, but I was never caught.

Do you have a favourite author(s)? Who is it/are they?
All the authors! All the books! Current faves are Karen Chance and I’m re-reading Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series.

How did you start your writing career?
I wrote and choreographed a ballet when I was 10 and kept going from there.

Which character was the hardest to write and why?
All of them! None of them co-operate. I have one vampire who’s been running away from his sex scene going on six months. Sheesh. You’d think I was going to stake him or something.

Who’s your favourite character? And what would let him/her do to you in the Dungeon?
My favourite character right now is James, my Scottish hero. He’s smart, easy on the eyes and has the strength to keep a woman safe and satisfied. He can tie me up with his kilt however he wants. I’m in!

If you write under an alias/Nome de plume, how do you deal with being addressed by that name?
I keep my first name real and just change up the last name. Makes life much easier! So I am really Michelle!

What made you decide to pick an alias?
My pseudonym is better than my real name, which is about as bad as Brian Dunkelman’s (that guy who mc’d the first season of American Idol along with Ryan Seacrest. We never saw him again. I want to be Seacrest, not Dunkelman, know what I mean?)

What was it about kink that made you choose the genre?
I like dominant, alpha men so it’s a natural fit to write about them.

What extent do you go to, to research for what you write?
Only my husband and I know the answer to that question ;)

Dom or sub?
I think I’m a sub and I would submit to any hunky hero that comes my way...in my imagination. In real life, I’m happily married and my hubby is my one and only.

Leather or Lace?
Leather!

Silk or hemp?
Silk!

If you weren’t an author, what would you have ended up doing?
Anything that requires good organizational skills. I always wanted to work in the prop department of a big budget movie. I love to see how things work and being behind-the-scenes in the movie industry appeals to me.

Do you have any rituals/habits when you write?
Right now I listen to Reggeaton over and over while I’m working. You can listen too, just follow the link: Listen here

What would be the weirdest one?
The amount of Nutella I sometimes eat while thinking about what to write next. Sometimes I procrastinate by cleaning. Ugh. That’s when you know it’s bad.

Is there anything on your current/upcoming release schedule?
I’m working on the follow up to First Moon, which features a pack of humans-turned-werewolves in northern Michigan and how they cope with suddenly being furry. The second book is all about the sheriff who’s gone from law enforcer to serious law breaker in order to protect his new pack.
~Woohoo!! I loved First Moon. Bring on the next one! ~Amanda~

I also have some dragon shifter books in the works. I’ll be part of a special anthology in late August/early September and will also have some stand alone releases featuring dragons.

Where are your books available?
Newsletter subscribers get a free read, a bdsm paranormal romance which fits right in with the kink theme!

KINKY LOWDOWN with Olivia Rigal

Most inappropriate thing you’ve done in public? If it was illegal, did you get caught? J
Sex in a public place and no we didn’t get caught.

Do you have a favourite author(s)? Who is it/are they?
I have several favourite authors :
Science fiction would be Stephenson the author of Snow Crash and The Diamond Age.
Police and mystery would be Martin Cruz Smith who wrote Gorky Park and all the following stories with detective Renko.
Erotic romance is a tie (pun intended) between Christa Wick and Sophie Oak/Lexi Blake.

How did you start your writing career?
I started writing novels at the end of December 2012 / January 2013 after hosting a friend in my place for a month and watching her write her first novel. I thought, why not me?

If you write under an alias/Nom de plume, how do you deal with being addressed by that name?
I have no trouble at all because. First because I kept my first name.
Now the last name I picked is my mother’s maiden name which happens to be very close to my own name. My mother only changed one letter of her name when she got married.

What made you decide to pick an alias?
I’m an attorney and I’m not sure of what the reaction of my clients would be.
Also I could have issues with bars I’m a member of.

Do you have a favourite item to write about? (or use? J)
No, as far as I’m concerned, it’s all in the mind so items are just means to an end.

Dom or sub?
Switch … why chose?

Leather or Lace?
Both… here again, no chosing.

Silk or hemp?
Silk!

Is there anything on your current/upcoming release schedule?
I have so many works in progress right now I think the next one to come out will be the French version of “Cold Burn” which is the second part of a Motorcycle Club Romance series called The Iron Tornadoes. One of their businesses is …. a sex club, of course!

Where are your books available?
Amazon, ARE, Nook, Kobo, Google,

KINKY SPOTLIGHT - Kallypso Masters - Somebody's Angel

When Marc d’Alessio first rescued the curvaceous and spirited Italian Angelina Giardano at the Masters at Arms Club, he never expected her to turn his safe, controlled life upside down and pull at his long-broken heartstrings. Months later, the intense fire of their attraction still rages, but something holds him back from committing to her completely. Worse, secrets and memories from his past join forces to further complicate his relationships with family, friends, and his beautiful angel.

Angelina cannot give all of herself to someone who hides himself from her. She loves Marc, the BDSM world he brought her into, and the way their bodies respond to one another, but she needs more. Though she destroyed the wolf mask he once wore, only he can remove the mask he dons daily to hide his emotions. In a desperate attempt to break through his defenses and reclaim her connection to the man she loves, she attempts a full frontal assault that sends him into a fast retreat, leaving her nobody’s angel once again.

Marc finds that running to the mountains no longer gives him solace but instead leaves him empty and alone. Angelina is the one woman worth the risk of opening his heart. Will he risk everything to become the man she deserves and the man he wants to be?

KINKY SPOTLIGHT - Kallypso Masters - Nobody's Perfect

Savannah/Savi escaped eleven years of abuse at the hands of her father and finally made a safe life for herself and her daughter. But when her father once again threatens her peace of mind—and her daughter’s safety—Savi runs to Damian Orlando for protection. Eight years earlier as Savannah, she shared one perfect day with Damian that changed both their young lives and resulted in a secret she no longer can hide. But being with Damian reawakens repressed memories and feelings she wants to keep buried. After witnessing a scene with Damian on Savi's first night at his private club, however, she begins to wonder if he could help her regain control of her life and reclaim her sexuality and identity.

Damian, a wounded warrior, has had his own dragons to fight in life, but has never forgotten Savannah. He will lay down his life to protect her and her daughter, but doesn’t believe he can offer more than that. She deserves a whole man, something he can never be after a firefight in Iraq. Damian has turned to SM to regain control of his life and emotions and fulfills the role of Service Top to “bottoms” at the club. However, he could never deliver those services to Savi, who needs someone gentle and loving, not the man he has become.

Will two wounded survivors find love and healing in each other’s arms?

CONTENT WARNING:

Readers who have a history of past abuse (sexual, physical, and emotional) may be triggered by scenes in this story. Before reading this book, please be aware that it is primarily about an incest survivor dealing with the sexual aftermath of years of abuse. She has dealt with non-sexual issues in years of therapy, but has tamped down anything related to sex. In this story, she struggles to find healing through a trusting, consensual BDSM relationship. If you believe that reading about PTSD flashbacks of incest, whipping for catharsis, mindf**ks, and related topics might be triggering for you, but you still choose to read it, please make sure you only read this book in a safe environment with supportive people available to you.

The BDSM scenes in this book (some of them beginning and advanced sadomasochism techniques) are the result of many conversations with submissives and Dominants who have worked through similar abuse issues using activities in the BDSM community and lifestyle. Therefore, the BDSM is portrayed as healing rather than titillating. If you are looking for the latter only, this might not be an enjoyable read.

But if you want to delve into the roller-coaster journey of a young couple trying to work through intense issues in a compelling story that pulls you into the characters' world and doesn't let you go, then you might find healing and entertainment in this story. The author, also a child-sexual abuse survivor, has found that writing the story has provided catharsis for her, and hopes other survivors who read it will see that they are survivors, too, and no one is ever so wounded she or he can't find love.

NOBODY'S ANGEL: Marc d’Alessio might co-own a private kink club with his fellow military veterans, Adam and Damian, but he keeps all women at a distance. When Marc rescues Angelina Giardano from a disastrous first experience at his club, however, an uncharacteristic attraction leaves him torn between his safe, but lonely world, and a possible future with his angel.

Angelina leaves the club behind only to have her dreams plagued by the Italian angel in a wolf mask who rescued her. When she meets Marc at a bar in her hometown, she can’t shake the feeling she knows him, but has no idea why he reminds her of her angel. While trying to protect Angelina from her abusive ex, though, Marc once again finds her at the Masters at Arms Club where she turns his safe, controlled world upside down.

ABOUT THE RESCUE ME SAGA: The books in the ongoing Rescue Me Saga are not stand-alone stories and should be read in order, beginning with the books in this volume. Characters will recur in later books to deal with old and new issues in their lives as the saga continues, and each book builds upon all previous ones. Sometimes main characters even need another book to help resolve deep-seated issues affecting their relationships.

BONUS MATERIAL in this version: Kallypso Masters has added the PLAYLIST of music that inspired her as she wrote about the first three couples mentioned in this combined volume, as well as a GLOSSARY OF TERMS and a CAST OF CHARACTERS in these books in the saga.

CONTENT WARNING: Readers with a history of abuse are warned that, due to the emotional way in which the author presents the subject matter (past and present), the books might cause triggers while reading. Please read the Author's Notes at the beginnings of each book before reading further. The books in this saga are intended for mature adult readers who are not offended by profanity and graphic sex scenes. Note, however, that this saga is NOT erotica. The primary focus is on the development of the characters and the unfolding of their life stories.

KINKY LOWDOWN with Kallypso Masters

You can take 5 items/men/women to a fully catered desert island – what/who would you take? J

My husband
My personal assistant (Charlotte, my best survival tool!)
My grandson (if his parents will let me)
My iPhone
My awesome new pair of 14-inch buffalo hide floggers custom made for me by Toymaker.

What’s the weirdest thing a fan (or stalker!) has ever asked you?
I got a private message on Facebook from a new fan that read: “I'm tired so going to bed. Wanna come join me?” Then she posted a follow-up to say she had sent the message to the wrong person. Phew! I was a little worried there for a minute about what type of friendship she was looking for!
Actually, though, when I first read the question I couldn’t think of anything that has been too weird for me to be asked. I’m very open and forthcoming with readers, so I tell them they can ask me anything. There may have been a few questions I didn’t answer if they involved the privacy of others (such as family members), but I’m drawing a blank here about anything memorable that I thought weird.

Most inappropriate thing you’ve done in public? If it was illegal, did you get caught? J
Flipping the bird to a sheriff in an unmarked car. He passed me when I was speeding along Route 79 toward Ithaca, N.Y., on my way to work in the 1980s. Then he slowed way down. I got pissed and passed him and flipped him off as I did so. Well, his blue lights started flashing and he pulled me over. He said, “I was trying to get you to slow down and I don’t appreciate that gesture you made. If I had my siren with me, I’d give you a ticket, but I can’t legally do so.” Phew.

Do you have a favourite author(s)? Who is it/are they?
Many! But I’m going to give a mention to one of my long-time favorites—Rachel Lee (aka Sue Civil Brown). She was the first one I fangirled over when I met her (about 1996, I think). Her Conard County series for Harlequin had the best damned characters—Gabe, Micah, Nate—I’ve ever read in Romance novels and I love how she has kept that series going for decades with updates on old favorites as well as new characters and a next generation. This is what I one day hope to have as my body of work in my Rescue Me Saga—only I’ll probably never write with the discipline she has!

How did you start your writing career?
I’ve been writing as a hobby for decades (since high school), but it wasn’t until I got fed up with my day job in April 2011 and quit cold turkey without a new job to go to that I started thinking about trying to make a living writing. I lucked out and author Donna McDonald just happened to be speaking at my RWA chapter meeting in May and when she described how well she was doing with only a couple of books as a self-published author, I decided that was what I would have to do because I couldn’t wait years to be discovered and get my books out there to readers. Best thing that ever happened to me. I’ve known struggling Romance authors for decades, too, and to be able to write what I love without the filters or arbitrary deadlines publishers put authors through has been pure joy. This career will be the one I will enjoy the rest of my life.

Which character was the hardest to write and why?
Marc D’Alessio. He actually came to be first—in Nobody’s Angel, originally an erotica novella I wrote in May 2009 (while still writing as a hobby). At the time, it was erotica and didn’t really need a story, but in May 2011 when I was trying to decide which books to focus on to launch my writing career, I pulled that one out to see if I could salvage it. It took major rewriting (three rewrites and two edits) before I published it Sept. 30, 2011, but I was never happy that I couldn’t get him to happily ever after. I knew there was something buried deep inside that was keeping him blocked off from me, Angelina, and readers, but figured I would just have to wait until he was ready to explore it.

That time came the summer of 2012 when I was trying to finish up Nobody’s Perfect. I had given him a subplot in that book, hoping to lure him into sharing his deepest secrets, but when it became apparent what the main problem was, I knew it would be a distraction from Damian and Savannah’s story to try and keep going back and forth in that book to Marc and Angelina, so a month before I published Perfect, I announced in my newsletter that the series would have a new book in the line-up and it would be Somebody’s Angel. (Not everyone got that newsletter or saw the announcements and I had actively promoted that Luke’s book would be next, so there have been some very disgruntled readers as a result.)

But I wouldn’t change a thing because I can see after the scenes (right to the very end) in Somebody’s Angel that there is hope for Marc and Angelina and that they are going to have the courage to help each other through some dark days ahead. I wasn’t as hopeful for them before that. And, in fairness to him, he wasn’t being stubborn and keeping things from me—he truly had no clue what issues from his past had done to him to make him the man behind a mask.

Who’s your favourite character? And what would let him/her do to you in the Dungeon?
Adam Montague. Yes, like 63% of my readers polled recently, I’ll admit he’s my favorite. Even though he is younger than I am at his 50-51 years of age, because I put myself into each of my characters as I write, I am Karla with him at age 25-26 and love his protective guardian role and nurturing way of taking care of her needs just makes me melt.

He’s not very active in the dungeon part of the club, but in the great room, I’d love for him to suspend me the way he did Karla in Nobody’s Hero.  That is one of the most sensual scenes I’ve ever written, from the moment he begins massaging her scalp to when he takes her to subspace. *sigh*

If you write under an alias/Nom de plume, how do you deal with being addressed by that name?
Kallypso Masters is a nom de plume and I find it hard to relate as Kallypso, so I came up with the nickname Kally. I’m much more a Kally than even my own real name, and my friends in my writers group helped me get used to it by calling me that in meetings since 2009.  So when Kallypso Masters became an overnight success in August 2011 with my first book, I’d already become used to the name. I almost always sign my e-mails and FB private messages as Kally—even when I’m supposed to sign my real name. And I tell people that as far as being the real deal, my Kallypso page is my “FACE” book and my real-life one is my “FAÇADE” book. I am totally honest with readers here and feel much more free to be myself without worrying about what might offend family, friends, or neighbors. But I do still talk to myself using my real first name.

What made you decide to pick an alias?
Safety reasons. I planned to write about BDSM and erotica and knew it might attract people who think erotic romance writers are fair game for being hit on or stalked. Fortunately, I haven’t had any of those issues, but my husband also preferred that I keep my name secret. Kallypso means “one who hides,” so it was the perfect name—even though I find myself to not be hiding as much as I thought I would. And, of course, my books are much more mainstream than erotica, so I do want everyone to know who I write as, rather than only share it with those I think might be open-minded enough to try something on the kinky side. But people continually surprise me!

What was it about kink that made you choose the genre?
I’ve been a fan of “bodice rippers” since the 1970s and while those often had non-consensual rape scenes between the heroes and heroines, I find elements of those types of stories interesting and incorporate them into my books. (Chapter Two of Nobody’s Hero would be an example of such a scene.) I’ve always been fascinated by bondage and how freeing that can be for someone with a history of sexual abuse, too. In the Rescue Me Saga, I wanted to show how (in some of the stories) BDSM could be used to heal from abuse, trauma, loss of control, and in other ways. I knew Nobody’s Perfect would be the book in which that would be the most obvious, but you’ll see it in lesser degrees in Masters at Arms & Nobody’s Angel and Nobody’s Hero, too, the first two books in the saga. I touched on it a bit in Somebody’s Angel again, although there wasn’t as much of an emphasis on BDSM in that one or in Nobody’s Dream, my work in progress. I like showing how people who live the lifestyle don’t necessarily treat it like a religion they follow 24/7 (although I know some do live the lifestyle 24/7). They have periods where they might not be interested in “scening” or playing, but they might be interested in other sexual practices outside the norm (like the anal sex scene in Somebody’s Angel). I like providing readers with that glimpse of what BDSM can look like in their lives, even if they aren’t going to dungeons (which most in the lifestyle don’t do).

What extent do you go to, to research for what you write?
I mostly talk with people who are experts at what I’m trying to write. Because getting the emotion right is more important thing to me, I ask lots of questions about “how does this feel?” and go from there. But then I’ll ask these experts to either read the chapters or scenes that I want their expertise used on, or I’ll make them beta readers so they can watch for things throughout a book if there is something in particular I want to get right. (Often it is more than a technique, but how would a person with a psychology background behave, or what would a Marine do or say in this situation, so they really need to read the entire book to get that “local” flavor across to me.)

I also enjoy visiting places I write about and picking up on things I see or hear that I might not learn by reading research books on the place or topic. I’ve attended leather celebrations to learn more about the leather culture

Do you have a favourite item to write about? (or use? J)
Floggers are a favorite (to write about and to use). Remember my answer earlier where I said I’d take my new pair of floggers that Toymaker made me to that fully catered desert isle. Marc and Angelina enjoy the floggers the most in my series, although others have used them, I’m sure. I liked how Adam turned his rope into a flogger to warm up Karla’s skin in the Shibari scene in Nobody’s Hero. (That was a suggestion from Toymaker, as well.)

Dom or sub?
I’m submissive (bedroom only), although my husband isn’t a Dom, so we strictly do roleplay activities, not a power exchange. I wouldn’t be interested in submitting to anyone else, though.

Leather or Lace?
Leather—love the smell of it!

Silk or hemp?
Hemp—silk is dangerous when wet and should be avoided (unless he has his EMT scissors handy to cut them if a problem arises—sorry, but that whole fantasy of silk ties and scarves can lead to serious nerve damage and so many people who read a certain trilogy have probably learned that the hard way if they didn’t do any real homework before starting to play).

If you weren’t an author, what would you have ended up doing?
I ended up being an author after decades of being an administrative assistant and then 9 years at an editorial assistant at a college. Wouldn’t want to be anything else than a writer (which was my dream since 7th or 8th grade).

Do you have any rituals/habits when you write?
Not really, although I’ve learned that my creativity is higher is I take the time first thing in the morning to write three pages in my notebook (my Morning Pages per The Artist’s Way, by Julia Cameron).

Is there anything on your current/upcoming release schedule?
No. I just sent about 90,000 words of the first (and incomplete) draft of Nobody’s Dream to five of my editors so we can brainstorm what’s working, what needs work, and where to go from here. I’ll spend the summer and fall (at least) finishing it and then it goes back to those editors (plus my timeline editor) so they can give it a major editing and then line edits. Still hoping for a late fall release, but it all depends on how productive the summer is (and I’m already behind schedule).

Where are your books available?
Amazon, Apple iBooks/iTunes, Barnes & Noble Nook, Kobo, All Romance eBooks, and Libiro. Coming soon to Google Play.

KINKY REVIEW - The Dom's Dungeon by Cherise Sinclair

 http://cherisesinclair.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/TheDomsDungeon_200x300.jpg

Upfront warning:  this is a BDSM novel.  I don't read many of them since a lot of BDSM novels frequently go way outside my comfort zone. This one was recommended by several different sources so I gave it a shot and I'm pleased I did.  Unlike many in this genre, it's not about the act, it's about the romance.  It's a very good read.

Mostly this is a relationship novel.  The heroine, MacKensie, is trying to escape a past she has been unable to move on from.  The hero, Alex, is both kind and caring but definitely jaded by the subs pursuing him.  [He's filthy rich, good looking, and an expert Dom - what does he expect?]

The heroine has participated in a 'house exchange' program so she can get to Seattle and interview for jobs as a veterinarian.  She is planning a total change of scene to avoid a murky past.  She is stunned when she finds her exchange 'house' is really a mansion.  It's luxurious, beautiful, and the dog is charming - but there's this locked room ...

The hero is supposed to be headed to the heroine's small Iowa house and to attend a convention and tour various family holdings in the area.  Problems at the airport make that impossible so he returns to his home figuring he could work out some arrangement with his houseguest.

Locked rooms really bother MacKensie.  Years in foster care gave her the skills to open most of them.  She is extremely surprised to find the locked door hides a private 'dungeon' obviously intended for BDSM play.  Surprised but intrigued ...

Finding his young and pretty houseguest has violated the house exchange contract and unlocked the door and is now trying out the various equipment [naked!] is a shock; one Alex deals with in his best Dom manner by spanking her and making her apologize.  But when the adrenaline spike and low blood sugar combine to make her woozy he gathers her into his lap, wraps her in a blanket and holds her until she stabilizes.

She's desperate, has no money to stay in a motel, and has given out his  address and phone as contact information to potential employers. He has a female 'stalker' who he thinks would be put off if he started showing up with a new sub.  He offers her a deal - she can stay but will appear in public a few times [the club, parties with like-minded friends] with him and give the appearance of being his newest sub - no abuse, no sex, no humiliation.  In return he doesn't throw her out, report her to the house exchange people, or destroy her reputation.

The remainder of the story deals with the development of their bond.  Mac has serious issues and Alex works hard at giving her what she needs.  It's about caring and showing love, with an alternative twist admittedly, not about the mechanics of the BDSM relationship.  Of course her past comes back to haunt her in a very real and very public way but with Alex's help she finally manages to overcome it and put it firmly behind her where it belongs.

One of the author's true skills is she gives each of her characters a strong and identifiable voice.  After the initial plot device [hero walking in on naked heroine bent over spanking bench] I felt the behaviors of all the characters were consistent and believable.  They are people you would want to know.

This is a stand alone novel but she has series' as well as another stand alone novel - all of which I promptly went out and bought after reading this one.
