A HUGE THANK YOU!! To all the authors who stopped in this month!

I renamed the blog this month. For the month of June thus far, it's been the Kinky Bitches, focusing on authors who write kink - in whichever way they choose to write it. Some write from their own lives, some write with a very realistic approach and a lot of outside consultation, others write ... well, who would like to speculate about their activities? Hmmm?!

Throughout this month, I have been joined by an array of writers of kink/BDSM. Fabulous authors have answered some questions and I've been featuring some of their books.
A huge Thank You to all the participating authors for agreeing to this impromtu gathering of minds!

And another Thank You for all the donations of prizes for the month long giveaway - The prize pool is almost of epic proportions! Your generosity is amazing - Thank You so very much :)

As I still have had commitments for other blog posts, to differentiate between Kinky posts and normal posts, the sections had a make over too - Author Lowdown was Kinky Lowdown, Spotlights were Kinky Spotlights and so on.
Without the Kink, it was just a post!

During the next week, the kinksters has gone back to the Dungeon to play; can't keep them out of there for too long!! This week is dedicated to New Releases, Blog Tours and Cover Reveals!
On board the mid-June chugger, I have:
Dianna Hardy, Eve Langlais, R.S. Grey, Chelsea Camaron, David Michael and Becca Lee.
What a great bunch of authors! (I hope they all get along well together, otherwise your favourite author might get tossed overboard, and we wouldn't want that to happen now would we!)

The Kinky Rafflecopter is open til the end of June and if we're really good girls and boys, there might even be some more authors stopping by in the last week.

KINKY REVIEW - The Dom's Dungeon by Cherise Sinclair

 http://cherisesinclair.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/TheDomsDungeon_200x300.jpg

Upfront warning:  this is a BDSM novel.  I don't read many of them since a lot of BDSM novels frequently go way outside my comfort zone. This one was recommended by several different sources so I gave it a shot and I'm pleased I did.  Unlike many in this genre, it's not about the act, it's about the romance.  It's a very good read.

Mostly this is a relationship novel.  The heroine, MacKensie, is trying to escape a past she has been unable to move on from.  The hero, Alex, is both kind and caring but definitely jaded by the subs pursuing him.  [He's filthy rich, good looking, and an expert Dom - what does he expect?]

The heroine has participated in a 'house exchange' program so she can get to Seattle and interview for jobs as a veterinarian.  She is planning a total change of scene to avoid a murky past.  She is stunned when she finds her exchange 'house' is really a mansion.  It's luxurious, beautiful, and the dog is charming - but there's this locked room ...

The hero is supposed to be headed to the heroine's small Iowa house and to attend a convention and tour various family holdings in the area.  Problems at the airport make that impossible so he returns to his home figuring he could work out some arrangement with his houseguest.

Locked rooms really bother MacKensie.  Years in foster care gave her the skills to open most of them.  She is extremely surprised to find the locked door hides a private 'dungeon' obviously intended for BDSM play.  Surprised but intrigued ...

Finding his young and pretty houseguest has violated the house exchange contract and unlocked the door and is now trying out the various equipment [naked!] is a shock; one Alex deals with in his best Dom manner by spanking her and making her apologize.  But when the adrenaline spike and low blood sugar combine to make her woozy he gathers her into his lap, wraps her in a blanket and holds her until she stabilizes.

She's desperate, has no money to stay in a motel, and has given out his  address and phone as contact information to potential employers. He has a female 'stalker' who he thinks would be put off if he started showing up with a new sub.  He offers her a deal - she can stay but will appear in public a few times [the club, parties with like-minded friends] with him and give the appearance of being his newest sub - no abuse, no sex, no humiliation.  In return he doesn't throw her out, report her to the house exchange people, or destroy her reputation.

The remainder of the story deals with the development of their bond.  Mac has serious issues and Alex works hard at giving her what she needs.  It's about caring and showing love, with an alternative twist admittedly, not about the mechanics of the BDSM relationship.  Of course her past comes back to haunt her in a very real and very public way but with Alex's help she finally manages to overcome it and put it firmly behind her where it belongs.

One of the author's true skills is she gives each of her characters a strong and identifiable voice.  After the initial plot device [hero walking in on naked heroine bent over spanking bench] I felt the behaviors of all the characters were consistent and believable.  They are people you would want to know.

This is a stand alone novel but she has series' as well as another stand alone novel - all of which I promptly went out and bought after reading this one.

KINKY SPOTLIGHT - Cherise Sinclair - Edge of the Enforcer

DOMS OF DARK HAVEN 4:
EDGE OF THE ENFORCER

Synopsis
One sadist. One submissive
One extraordinary love

Welcome to Dark Haven
and may all your darkest wishes come true

Fleeing false murder charges, Lindsey lands in San Francisco. There she builds a satisfying life until, in the notorious Dark Haven BDSM club, she encounters deVries. Moth, meet flame.

A security specialist and occasional mercenary, deVries needs an adorable submissive like a knife to the gut. Hell, she’s not even a masochist. But here she is, all big brown eyes and sweet body and sassy mouth. Loyal. Tough-minded. Honest.

Or maybe not, considering her ID is forged. If she thinks to lie to him, she’ll learn better. He’s the Enforcer of Dark Haven—his discipline is absolute, his punishments harsh, and his heart untouched...until now.

Excerpt

Tilting her head, Lindsey studied deVries as he cleaned his equipment and stowed it away. His hair was military short, his face lean with a strong jaw and well-formed hard lips. A frown line showed between his eyebrows. No laugh lines; he didn’t often smile. He wasn’t quite as tall as Xavier, but God, his broad shoulders and muscular chest under a black T-shirt made saliva pool in her mouth.

And the way he walked was simply deadly…as if it wouldn’t bother him at all to turn someone into a pile of bones and blood. Knowing how much deVries enjoyed dispensing pain, Xavier often asked him to administer punishment to unruly submissives—who’d nicknamed him the Enforcer.

Lindsey bit her lip. Why the hell did she have to be attracted to a sadist?

Now he was done with the heavy scene, what would he do? She felt a smidgen of pity as she watched him pack his toy bag, leaving the submissive tied to the table for Rock to enjoy. No one was there for deVries.

However, though most of the observers had left, several still waited, attention focused so intently on deVries they reminded her of sheep at feeding time. As he slung his bag over his shoulder and picked up his wand case, the submissives—male and female—went to their knees. Offering themselves. In the very front was HurtMe—one of the masochists he often played with. When the blond touched his forehead to the ground, Lindsey snorted. Obviously deVries would have no problem scratching his itch after a scene.

She started to leave and paused, wondering who he’d choose. Sub gossip hadn’t made mention of a favorite, which might simply mean the Enforcer was exceedingly private in who he was screwing.

At least, since she wasn’t kneeling, he wouldn’t think she was one of the applicants for his favor. She couldn’t take another insult.

When he assessed the offerings indifferently, her mood lightened. It was reassuring to know she wasn’t the only sub he’d ever rejected.

Without picking anyone, he headed for the stairs. As he neared Lindsey, she caught his tantalizing scent, wild and musky with a hint of clean masculine sweat.

He stopped in front of her. His gaze was hotter than a Texas summer sun as it swept over her feline costume—cat ears, furry bra, and leopard-fur boy shorts. Violence lurked in his eyes.

And the growl in his voice was unyielding. “Changed my mind. I could use some sweet wildcat pussy, and you’re up. I’m calling in my debt.”

“Wh-what?” The explosion of air from her lungs made his lips tilt…slightly. She shook off the disbelief. “You said no.”

“I said when I wanted. Choose—do I fuck you here or at your house?”

Oh my effing God. Only a sneaky weasel-dog like him would pull such a stunt. She’d hankered after him forever, and yet the thought of being with him dried the spit in her mouth.

She jerked her gaze from his intent one and saw Sir Ethan behind him. Watching. As a dungeon monitor, he could tell deVries to go jump in a lake. He lifted one eyebrow.

But…she’d participated in the games last summer. And lost. There hadn’t been any time limit on collecting the prize.

DeVries stood silently, letting her think. His gray-green eyes showed no expression.

Under Dark Haven’s rules, she could safeword if she was really scared…only it would be a cheat. She wasn’t past her limit. He hadn’t done anything yet. But under his hard gaze, she sure felt like a newborn calf trapped by a wolf.

She shook her head at Sir Ethan and said to deVries, “Fine.”

“Where?”

Heavens. Let him take her here—where all those submissives would watch? Uh-uh. Home? Unease made her bite her lip. What could he learn about her there? Not much, actually. Thank goodness it wasn’t really her place. “Home.”

He looked a little surprised, then nodded.

Aw heck, she was going to have sex with the Enforcer. Maybe it was only for an hour or so, but…he wants me. A thrill shot through her and made her quiver.

And lit his eyes with amusement.

KINKY LOWDOWN with Cherise Sinclair

You can take 5 items/men/women to a fully catered desert island – what/who would you take?   J
Two strong Dominants (not more, because otherwise it’s really difficult to keep track of their commands, let alone all the moving body parts). Each Dom will bring his toybag (that counts as only one ‘item’ apiece, right?).  And after sex on the beach, I’m going to seriously need the drink, Sex on the Beach.

Most inappropriate thing you’ve done in public? If it was illegal, did you get caught? J
Hmm. Dancing on bar tables seems pretty mundane. Sex in public?  Check. And yes, getting caught is part of the fun, right? My favourite spot was a park with a massive chest-high rock that looked almost like a sacrificial altar.

Do you have a favourite author(s)? Who is it/are they?
In the erotic romance genre, I love Lexi Blake, Shayla Black, Joey Hill, Angel Payne, Fiona Archer, Bianca Sommerland, and sheesh, I can’t list them all.  In other genres, I just finished reading Patricia Brigg’s Mercy series (again).

Who’s your favourite character? And what would let him/her do to you in the Dungeon?
Master Z from the Shadowlands holds my heart—and he could do absolutely anything he wanted because he wouldn’t go farther than I could handle.  And since I’m a really paranoid person, that’s trust for you. lol

If you write under an alias/Nome de plume, how do you deal with being addressed by that name?
I do use a pen name, but I carefully picked a first name that sounds like my normal nickname, so when friends call me “Cheri”, I answer.

However, my husband came into my office last week with an odd expression on his face and tells me, “I guess I’m now 'Mr. Sinclair'?”

What made you decide to pick an alias?
I had two children in school when I started writing erotic romance, and I wasn’t going to do anything to compromise their safety.  No one in our small town knew what I wrote—and I didn’t share with the kids until they were close to graduating from high school.

What extent do you go to, to research for what you write?
Ok, I do all the normal research methods—books, blogs, questioning people…  Since I write about BDSM, I also visit BDSM clubs and offer up my body in the name of authenticity. Violet wands, floggers, single-tails, knives … writing kink isn’t for the weak of heart, right?

I will admit that my dearheart—who usually is quite enthusiastic about “research”—drew a very firm line when I started writing about a ménage.  I believe his words were something like, “Absolutely not.”

Leather or Lace?
I love the smell and feel of leather.

If you weren’t an author, what would you have ended up doing?
Well, I’ve already been a registered nurse and a software engineer, so would you believe writing is my third career?

Do you have any rituals/habits when you write?
Plant butt in chair and write.  Although, if I’m having trouble turning off the internal editor in my mind, then I’ll close my eyes and touch-type while playing the story-movie in my head.

Is there anything on your current/upcoming release schedule?
I have an August release with “Show Me, Baby,” a novella in the Masters of the Shadowlands series in the 1001 Dark Nights program.

Where are your books available?
Print books are available from B&N and Amazon. Digital books are available from Amazon, B&N, AllRomance Ebooks, iBooks, and Kobo.  Each book’s page on my website has buy links listed

Stalker Links

Thanks to The Picky Bitches blog for inviting me to come and play today!  It’s been a pleasure.
For all of you who read, your enthusiasm makes it all worthwhile—all the planting butt in chair, the angsting over plots and characters and motivation, the arduous in-person research (well, okay, maybe the research isn’t so much work. Lol)  But seriously, thank you all.
~It's been a pleasure to have you here Cherise! Thank you for taking the time to 'chat' with me!~Amanda!~

KINKY REVIEW - Club Shadowlands (Shadowlands #1) by Cherise Sinclair

6357022

Synopsis
Her car disabled during a tropical storm, Jessica Randall discovers the isolated house where she's sheltering is a private bondage club. At first shocked, she soon becomes aroused watching the interactions between the Doms and their subs. But she's a professional woman--an accountant--and surely isn't a submissive...is she?

Master Z hasn't been so attracted to a woman in years. But the little sub who has wandered into his club intrigues him. She's intelligent. Reserved. Conservative. After he discovers her interest in BDSM, he can't resist tying her up and unleashing the passion she hides within

Review
Raging storm, rain slicked roads, a car crash… Followed by a distant light illuminating an isolated mansion…  If this book was written by Agatha Christie the heroine would have spent the story shivering with unease, gasping in fright, and tripping over dead bodies. Since it was written by Cherise Sinclair there are no dead bodies. Unease? Oh yeah. Moments of fright? Definitely. But no dead bodies.

The unease and fright show up when very conservative Jessica is given the option to ‘join the party’ – only to find out it’s a very private club for BDSM players. Much of it scares her but some of it turns her on – and that scares her even more. As an independent businesswoman she just KNOWS that all that submission stuff is wrong, doesn’t she?

Our hero, known as Master Z inside the club, is intrigued by the obviously submissive tendencies in Jessica and her glaringly obvious discomfort with what she’s seeing and feeling. He helps her understand the dynamics of the lifestyle while feeding the attraction between them.

Z has patience, style, and the whole Master dynamic in spades – of course she falls for him. Jessica has vulnerability, a caring heart, and great passion waiting to be released. She is both fascinated and frightened by his world but is willing to give her trust to him. Z falls for her in a way he never has before.

The book is short, more novella than novel, but the ending is satisfying. Obviously the romance will be growing in future books. It’s a good introduction to the series and some of the heroes we’ll be seeing in the future.

“World’s full of variety, why not sex? Everything in there is — what’s the phrase? — safe, sane, and consensual. Yeah. If they like a little more kink to get their rocks off, it’s no business of mine.”
-Ben, the door guard at Shadowlands

KINKY REVIEW - Doms of Dark Haven by Sierra Cartwright, Belinda McBride and Cherise Sinclair

8074969

Synopsis
Three women, three Doms. One extraordinary night. Welcome to Dark Haven, and may all of your darkest wishes come true...

Met Her Match (A Hawkeye Story) by Sierra Cartwright
Genre: BDSM Erotic Contemporary
Series: Hawkeye; Previous Book: Bend Me Over

Highly trained Mira Araceli can hold her own in the toughest parts of the world, but not, it seems, against her secret crush, Torin Carter. She'd fallen for her Hawkeye instructor years before, and to him, she'd been just another recruit; fresh, green, idealistic.

Torin, with his dark Irish good looks and fierce temper, doesn't want a partner, any partner, and especially not Mira. But assignments are assignments, and he takes his responsibilities seriously. So when the beautifully submissive Mira crawls into his bedroom, a leather belt between her teeth, he calls on all his resolve to send her away.

Unsatisfied, Mira ups the stakes and finds another dom to play with at Dark Haven. Beyond furious, Torin storms into Master Xavier's club and claims his rights to dominate Mira. For the first time in her life, she's met her match.

Educating Evangeline by Belinda McBride
Genre: BDSM Shape-shifter Paranormal

This isn't what she came here for!

Pursued by a group of mysterious hunters, Evangeline Jones was desperate for sanctuary when she ducked into the doorway of Dark Haven. Instead of safety, she discovers a decadent, sensual world that challenges her very outlook on life.

Harte Sommers is charmed by the little wolf with the pink streak in her ebony hair. As alpha of the Napa pack, he sometimes feels that he's alone at the top. When he meets Eva, he knows he might not be able to keep his wild little wolf at his side, but his heart tells him that his lonely days might be at an end.

Simon Says: Mine by Cherise Sinclair
Genre: BDSM Erotic Contemporary
Related Title: Master of the Mountain

With an empty nest and divorce in hand, Rona decides it's time to explore the fantasies that nourished her through a long, tedious marriage to a man whose idea of outrageous sex was leaving the lights on. At the top of her fantasy list is touring Dark Haven, the BDSM club, but she isn't prepared for the effect of a powerful Dom. When Master Simon takes control and introduces her to toys and sensations she's never felt before, she realizes he could fulfil every fantasy on her list all by himself. But she's vowed to never get trapped in a relationship again.

One of the most popular Doms in Dark Haven, Master Simon has had his fill of eager, shallow, young subs. Rona is older, intelligent, independent...and sweetly submissive. After an evening of intense pleasure and despite her obvious attraction, she refuses to see him again. He needs a way to change her mind. She's not the first sub he's taken on a journey of exploration, but he's beginning to think she might be the last.

Publisher's Note: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable: Anal play/intercourse, strong BDSM theme and elements to include exhibitionism and voyeurism.(less)

Review
This is the anthology that introduced me to BDSM reads that had actual plots and enjoyable characters.  It also added all three authors to my “Must find more by these authors immediately” list!

The Met Her Match story by Sierra Cartwright is related to her Hawkeye books – both the hero and heroine are employed by Hawkeye as security specialists. The dynamics of two partners establishing the parameters of their relationship – in and out of the BDSM world – is the driver for this story.

You do not have to read any of the other Hawkeye books to know what is going on – although several of the supporting characters have their own books in this series.  They all tend to towards the rougher end of sexual activity but as they say “If it’s consensual and works for all involved… who am I to say anything?”

Educating Evangeline by Belinda McBride is a paranormal read, related to the Truckee Wolves books. Goodreads lists this story as #2 in the series, but you do not have to read the first, Toxic, before reading this one. [It is a good read though, I enjoyed it.]

Intent on escaping the evil representatives of Abraxis [the usual group of evil scientists to whom medical ethics are a closed book], Evangeline follows a group of people into Dark Haven. Dark Haven turns out to be a BDSM club but she is allowed to join the group. Trying to ‘blend’ she meets Harte – alpha of a pack of shifters in the Napa Valley. There are dominance issues, pack politics and, of course, the Abraxis hunters to be dealt with but maybe, just maybe, Evangeline may have finally found a home and Harte a partner.

Simon Says: Mine by Cherise Sinclair. Oh my. This author is such a find. The hero and heroine were absolutely wonderful and I loved that they were ‘older’ and still hot and sexy. [Of course your concept of older changes through the years. I’d stand in line to be looking at 40 – from either side!] This is a wonderful introduction to the ‘whys’ of BDSM plus more than a few ‘hows’ – with emphasis on communication, mutual consent and always safety.

Simon is as alpha as they come – but brings out the romance and sweetness as well. Rona was in some ways very typical – a woman with issues related to her age and her body-image – who keeps assuming no one would want her. Fortunately Simon can be a very determined man who has a firm grasp of her issues – and her.

Goodreads lists this as #1.5 in the Dark Haven/Mountain Masters series. You don’t have to read the others [although you will want to] as it works very well as a standalone.

In many ways this reads more like a novel than the anthology.  Since all three stories occur at Dark Haven on the same night, each story has glimpses of the characters and scenes that are central to the other two stories.  The writing styles are compatible, the action flows very smoothly through the book. Very well done, ladies!
