Anybody who remembers studying the Greek Gods and Goddesses in English class knows they got up to a lot of hijinks; even in the sanitized versions approved for the classroom. This is the story of Eros (definitely not in the ‘chubby kid with a bow’ mode) and Rees, the scholarly and beautiful tenth muse who resides in the Elysian Fields – and it is unlikely to ever appear in a classroom.

Eros is on Earth hunting the reincarnation of his beloved Psyche who has become an A-list fashion model. In pursuit of her he does something spectacularly attention-getting by appearing on the runway of a huge fashion show - in drag and wearing his own wings. He gets her attention all right, and that of various irate gods and goddesses including his mother, Aphrodite.

Aphrodite persuades Rees to go to Earth and masquerade as human and eventually lure Eros back to Olympus. Rees agrees and finds himself liking, and more than liking Eros. As time passes the lies feel more and more like a betrayal, the love feels more and more real…

Like many of us, Eros had a dream, a shining vision he had been pursuing – the dream of Psyche. But the current incarnation, Rosalinda, is drug-addicted, not particularly nice, and in love with another man. The reality is nothing like his vision. And then there’s Rees, warm, charming, beautiful and human. Destined to die just like Psyche. Can he bear another love and loss? Eros is conflicted, extremely conflicted.

The focus of this book is the love story and it is simply beautifully done. There are other plot elements of course, Rees is kidnapped, there are complex relationships playing out among the Olympians, and twists on the traditional myths that we thought we knew. Incidentally, you don’t have to remember any of this stuff from high school – the author does a great job of dropping the necessary information into the story flow. But if you’re curious? That’s why they invented Google…

This is listed as book one of the Aphrodite Project. I’m sure we’ll be seeing some of the wonderful supporting characters moving to the fore in later books. I look forward to them!

MCKAYS SERIAL KILLER SERIES – SKYE EAGLEDAY

McKay is a good read even though it is stated as a standalone book I would highly recommend that you read McKay’s Werewolf Ways and Roots and Fairy’s Scottish Shifter Romance   before reading McKay’s serial killer. In saying this I didn’t read the first two books and was a bit confused on the relationship s between the characters, this then took me awhile to get into the story.

Considering all this I found parts of the story where I was going “Oh No!!” I was developing feelings for the characters. Which would have been stronger if I had of been on the journey with them from the start.

McKay and his lover Niall a Fae travel from Scotland to Seattle to get help from some of the other supernaturals that they know. Mahihkan a Loup- Garou his partner Kerri a powerful witch and a Pooka called Maeve/Rory depending on who they are at the time, her/his partner Fiona who is a Leprechaun.

McKay has been possessed by the spirit of the “Master of Storms and Lightning” him and Niall travel to find if their friends are able to help him control his powers. All the while keeping a watchful eye out for rouge Garou named Krieger and his friendly Vampire killer Leela. Krieger is after Mahihkan with the help of Leela he is able to kill the enforcers that are sent after him.

McKay actually finds the most help from a chance encounter with a psychic who tells him more about his powers and ways to help centre himself and his powers. Once he gets his powers under control they find and confront Krieger.

I received this book to do an honest review. I found the storyline gripping and will be reading the others to get the full impact of the storyline. I would recommend this to any reader of paranormal romance.

Two packs trying to take control over the same territory one run by a bully and the other a sensitive Alpha who wants what’s best for the pack and the cubs who don’t know what they are about to become. When it’s a full moon the wolves are harder to control but when it is a Blood Moon and a Super moon all at the same time makes controlling the wolves so much harder. The Alphas are having a really hard time keeping their wolves under control and the wolves of the pack under control.

 Briar pack is made up of the pack with a recessive gene of shifters who have mated with humans. Not wolf born, most of the human born don’t know they are werewolves and they are completely human until their first change when they are a danger to themselves and those around them. Zev’s pack is made up of wold born shifters and he wants to help Randall to become what he’s meant to be. Bring in Ellis who has a stolen gift of languages agrees to be an interpreter and a negotiator to the pack but neither pack trust him being the vampire. When Briar’ pack turn up and an all-out war starts and Randall has to step up and be fill a need.

Strong characters and a strong storyline it will be interesting to see where the story leads.

 Having received this ARC in exchange for an honest review I would happily recommend this book to anyone who enjoys shifter romance. But be warned there is male on male between the lead characters.
