Hot SEAL Lover (HOT SEAL Team #2) by Lynn Raye Harris

Hot SEAL Lover (Hostile Operations Team, #11)

 Release June 14, 2016

Amazon Synopsis:
One night in the sheets is all she wants…

Christina Girard is a lady. But she’s a lady whose world is about to implode. She’s done everything right, but she can’t escape the taint of scandal when her husband cheats on her with another man. She’s broken, her spirit battered, her confidence at an all-time low.

Then she meets Navy SEAL Remy Marchand, and parts of her she’d thought dead flare to life. Except Remy is part of the Hostile Operations Team, the Black Ops group her brother works for, and that means NO in flashing neon letters. Yet Christina’s tired of always doing what’s expected. Just once, she wants to saddle up and ride a tattooed, dirty-mouthed bad boy before she kicks him to the curb and goes on with her life.

One night is not enough to put out the fire…

Remy Marchand burns with guilt and regret that he couldn’t save his twin sister from her abuser. He lives his life slaying dragons for the innocent and vulnerable. He thought Christina needed his strength and protection too, but he was wrong. After a single night of pleasure, she disappears from his life.

But then his SEALs get tasked with a mission: infiltrate war-torn Qu’rim and get Christina out before the enemy finds her. With bombs exploding, blood spilling, and survival not certain, Remy protects Christina from harm while vowing not to succumb again to her sweet temptation.

One night is only the beginning…

But life in a war zone is intense, and vows mean nothing in the face of danger. Giving in is inevitable. Staying alive is not—especially when the greatest menace still waits for the perfect moment to strike…

Review:
This is another great read from Lynn Raye Harris. It delivers all the things we expect from her: hot alpha guys, fast-paced action, a hero and heroine laden with ‘issues’ and a connection between them so strong it can’t be denied [although they try, REALLY try], hot sex scenes and a satisfying conclusion. For those who have been following the series we also see many of the characters we have grown to know and love along the way.

I must admit to occasionally wanting to smack the heroine. Her issues led her to a one night stand with the hero and then she left. The hero has his own problems, especially the guilt he feels for not rescuing his sister. Things might have stopped there if there wasn’t a revolution…

When the rebels trap a bunch of Americans [including Christina] the hero’s team is missioned in to get them out of the war zone. It’s a long and dangerous journey and adrenaline is a great prioritizer. Sometimes the truth does set you free…

A great story with a happy ending. What more can one ask?

Can you read this as a stand alone? Yes. Is it better if you read it as part of the series? Yes, it enriches the reading experience if you do.  No, you don’t have to read them in order but again, it is better if you do.

An ARC of this book was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.

REVIEW!! Hot and Bothered (Hostile Operations Team #8) by Lynn Raye Harris

24514289

Synopsis:
He can never have her. Having her means the end of his career in the Hostile Operations Team. But when he learns she’s carrying his child, he’ll have to make a choice…

Ryan “Flash” Gordon has been drawn to Emily Royal bin Yusuf since the first moment he met her. But she’s a terrorist’s widow, which means she’s completely off-limits. A HOT special operator can never be with a woman whose name is on government watch lists the world over.

But when Emily begs him for just one night, he can’t refuse. The next morning, she’s gone. Not just from his bed, but from his life.

Emily can never clear her name—or can she? When a rogue CIA operative offers her a chance to put her past behind her and do something for her country, she leaps at the opportunity—even though it means leaving behind the man she’s fallen in love with. But not before she lets herself have one night with him.

One night with stunning consequences…

Review:
Okay, the series continues to grab me. A lot of times a series will drop into the “same-old, same-old” rut by the time it hits number eight. Not this time! Lynn Raye Harris continues to deliver on all fronts: page turning suspense, fascinating characters, interesting locales, intense action… And between the sheets? Oh, yeah!

Another thing I love about this series? Each book is complete:  a new couple, a new love, and new adventures. Plus she weaves the characters you have grown to know and love in previous books into the threads of the story while placing ‘threads’ that lead into future books. So yes, these can be read as standalones, but seriously? Read them in order – it makes the whole experience even better.

I had serious doubts about the setup. The whole ‘wife of a [dead] terrorist’ thing was a little off-putting, sort of a modern version of the heroine with a ‘scarlet woman’ or ‘black widow’ reputation who has given up on love and life. But Ms. Harris really made her work for me. The hero was a great - offering support without smothering her – although like all alpha guys he is fiercely protective.

There are so many plot twists that I can’t really come up with anything to say that isn’t contained in the book summary and doesn’t contain spoilers. So I’ll close with a simple recommendation: Read the book! (And the series, so I guess that’s two recommendations.)

Sex with the ex… It shouldn’t be this good the second time around.

Navy SEAL Dane “Viking” Erikson has sworn off women—or at least he’s sworn off one woman: DEA Agent Ivy McGill. His ex-wife.

But when they’re forced to work together on a critical military mission, Dane can’t help but notice how the one woman he shouldn’t want is the only one he can’t stop thinking about.

Ivy knows what it’s like to fall for a SEAL’s hard muscles and killer smile—and she knows what it’s like when everything falls apart. So why is she naked against a wall and begging Dane for more?

Review (HOT SEAL

I like action plots. That means something is going on besides the hot sex with well-built guys. The HOT series consistently delivers on all three fronts: non-stop action, sex scenes that can steam the wallpaper, and hunky guys with skills both in and out of the bedroom [and any other location that appeals.] The current entry, HOT Seal, does not disappoint – it is definitely romantic suspense at its best.

Once upon a time SEAL Dane, the hero, and DEA Agent Ivy, the heroine, were married. It didn’t work out. Two tough people working even tougher jobs – and neither was willing to compromise. And now they’re brought back together by those very same jobs. But they can handle it. It’s a mission, just business. Yeah, like that’s going to work…

The point of view alternates between Dane and Ivy and their likenesses and differences become very obvious. Both of them are hard, strong-minded people committed to doing what they see as right. They are both protectors to the core. Neither of them is much of a communicator but Ivy is especially locked up. However their chemistry, both old and new, brings them steadily closer together.

FYI:  This is a novella rather than a novel. This could be read as a standalone but honestly? I always recommend reading the series. Each story is complete but there is a continuing series arc. Each story incorporates characters you know and love from previous books – just like this one does. NOTE: for those following the series YES this is number nine and it is being released before number eight, Hot and Bothered. That is because it is appearing in the anthology SEALs of Summer 2: A Military Romance Superbundle. But don’t worry, it contains no spoilers for number eight. (There are plans to release it as a standalone later this year.)
