To start with, I haven’t actually read a stepbrother book
before, despite the genre being one of the ‘in’ things. Secondly, I read both
these books in one sitting—devoured them even—unable to go to sleep until I’d finished
them both.
Stepbrother Master
We have Ford and Emma…
Meet Emma, whose mother is about to be married for the
fourth time. She’s tried to get out of it, but succumbs to her mother’s
pleading and ends up on a huge ranch in Montana for the summer break.
Ford is sceptical about Emma and her mother, believing they’re
both just gold-diggers looking to score a quick buck.
Despite each of their scepticisms about what’s going on,
there’s instant heat between them. A pull. Desire. They both resist the heat
and tension between them, but only until Emma stumbles upon Ford’s secret
lifestyle—then she’s all he can think about, and what Emma witnessed keeps her
up at night.
Once their parents are married, Emma and Ford give in and
have a week of bliss, but it plays on Emma’s conscience, especially after her
mum and new stepdad return from their honeymoon.
Hot sex, indecision and forbidden love make this a great
read.
His Plaything
Avery and Nixon are the stars of this one.
Avery meets her new family at the end of Emma and Ford’s
book. Avery is Emma’s stepsister of sorts. Even though their parents are divorced,
they still consider each other as sisters. This lessens to taboo in our minds,
but not in Avery’s.
When Avery’s dad can’t pay for her college accommodation on
top of tuition, a solution is found by her stepmother’s new husband. Move into
Nixon’s condo. Avery thought she’d have the place to herself given Nixon is a
SEAL and often away. What she didn’t consider was that he was home…
She walks in on Nixon f*cking a woman on his dining table.
After having the image of a naked and erect Nixon seared into her mind, she
lays down a rule of no more sexual shenanigans in the condo. He objects then
makes his own rule for her to consider. He’s just returned from nine months
deployment and refuses to go without sex for the entire time she’s there.
His solution has her running scared, yet intrigued.
Again, it’s Avery who is hung up on the detail of being
stepsiblings despite being further removed from the title than Emma is—who has
no problem with it now!
Another good story and quite an easy read. Between the two
it took me around 6 hours to read and was an enjoyable was to spend an evening.
With nothing to compare it to in the genre, I couldn’t say how it stands up
against others, but I enjoyed them both thoroughly.
