No one denies me. Especially her.

She dismissed me.
That was her first mistake.
She thought I was a nice guy.
That was her second.
She had hope.
That was the final straw.
I am Onyx Blake.
I’m a powerhouse in an ugly underworld only found in her nightmares.
She’s going to learn quickly, I’m not the man to let anything go …
Including her.

***REVIEW***

This is what happens when you write a review, go to move it, then forget you need to paste it and copy something else...
I had to start again. Let's see if I remember what the hell I wrote!

It's been a very long time since a book has had me up all night and reading to the very end. And I mean it when I say a looooong time. This had me tapping those pages until I found out every secret, every detail, and by the time I was done, it was almost 4 a.m.
Sleep did not matter until I had the answers!

Since the authors have specifically asked not to have any plotline (fair enough) or character (eep!) spoilers, this is somewhat harder than I'd thought it would be to write.
But I'll see how I go (again).
Onyx is such a strong character whose world is controlled by him and his friends. You just don't go against his commands or wishes. But Torryn does. Oops!
He says it all in the blurb--she denies him, dismisses him, and thinks he's a good guy. And he really doesn't like when she does all that.
The name he gives her is fitting too--in its own twisted way--and I really kind of liked it.

There are a heap of secrets that just have to be discovered, and twists you never see coming. Even to the point of wincing and gasping "Oooo!"

I really do love Onyx's strength of character and the changes you see in him throughout the book. And those changes don't affect the important parts of his life either, they just enhance it all.
And while Torryn has had a run of rotten luck, she really finds her own while under the care of Onyx.

Hopefully I haven't gone against the wishes of the authors here because I'd really like the second book! In the meantime, I'm off to find the prequel (why didn't I know about this before?!) and to spend another too many hours without sleep!
Definitely worth the read, and the all-nighter! If you're a fan of either of these authors, I would recommend you having a crack at this one.
